USS Newman K Perry (DD-883)
Perry and SEBAGO were contemporaries; The SeaBag was placed in commission in September of 1945 and the Perry just two months earlier. At 390 feet long, she was over 140 longer than SEBAGO. Her GE steam turbines put 60,000 HP to the twin shafts and pushed the destroyer to about 37 knots, nearly 20 knots faster than SEBAGO on a good day - and she rarely had them. We had a single 5"/38 gun and Perry had six, mounted as twins in three tubs.

Perry was part of the destroyer and cruiser flotilla that took part in the Cuban missile blockage in 1962. She was decommissioned in February 1981 and sold to the South Korean navy.
