David "Dave" Theodore Britland, 59, of Moosup, Conn., died unexpectedly on Saturday June 23, 2007, at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Born in Westerly on Aug. 19, 1947, he was the son of Gertrude (Cook) Rider and the late Edmund A. Britland, Sr.
Dave was most recently employed as a home-care worker. He loved working with people with disabilities in their homes. Mr. Britland was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of the Moosup Lodge 113 in Moosup, a member of the Scituate Chapter in Coventry, and was past high priest and current scribe. Dave was a 1966 graduate of Chariho High School and attended Yale Culinary School in New Haven.
He is survived by his loving wife and seven wonderful children, one cherished sister, two brothers, seven grandchildren whose company he enjoyed, and a few close friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, Main Street, Hope Valley. Burial will follow in Wood River Cemetery, Richmond. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
A reception will be held after burial at the Masonic Lodge in Moosup.
