Harold E. Eggeman, 90, South West Lebanon Road, Dalton, formerly of Kidron, went to be with the Lord on Saturday night, June 16, 2012, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community, Dalton, after a period of declining health.
Harold was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Rittman, the son of Silver H. and Bertha (Reef) Eggeman, and was a 1940 graduate of Dalton High School. He served his country during WWII, in the Coast Guard as a sound man third class. Harold was united in marriage to Eunice Nussbaum on Feb. 21, 1944, in Orrville. She survives.
All his life, Harold was involved with carpentry and the construction trade, first with Nussbaum Construction from 1945-64, then Suttle & Eggeman Construction from 1965-77. Later, he assisted his sons with their construction companies. Harold enjoyed time with his family, and outdoor activities.
He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, Dalton.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Eunice (Nussbaum) Eggeman, are children, H. James "Jim" (Beth) Eggeman of Dalton, Phil R. Eggeman of Medina, Kay M. Eggeman of Dalton and Marlene Eggeman of Canton; grandchildren Shelly (Mark) Dorffer, Andrew (Davene) Eggeman, Michael Eggeman and Lauren Eggeman; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Beery of Orrville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Don M. Eggeman on March 14, 1964; sisters Doris Herman and Roene Klusch; and brothers-in-law Vernon Beery, Melvin Herman and John Klusch.
Memorial services will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, 18600 Davis Road, Dalton, Thursday, June 21, at 4 p.m., with pastor Timothy J. Hull officiating. Private family graveside services with military rites will be held in Kidron Mennonite Church Cemetery, at a time convenient to the family.
