CWO2 (SUP) Charles K. Conner, USCG (Ret)

Charles Kenneth Conner, 69 of Folkston, Georgia passed away May 19, 2013 at home. He was born September 30, 1943 in Nassau County, Florida to the late Charles and Arna Conner.  Mr. Conner was a retired veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Coast Guard. After retiring from the Coast Guard he and his wife Yvonne owned and operated C & M B-BQ from 1982 to 1989, where he served some of the finest BBQ in the area.  He also owned and operated C & M Trucking as well as other self-employment pursuits over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one sister, Nora B. Taylor and two Brothers: Horace and Dwayne Conner.

Survivors include his wife: Yvonne Conner of Folkston; two sons: David (Sue) Conner of Houston, Texas and James K. Conner of Tennessee; two daughters: Vickie (Troy) Hillegass of Boyertown, Pennsylvania and Maria “Pinkie” (Nonoy) Fuentes, The Philippines; also one sister: Brenda (Chris) Gowen of Folkston; two brothers: Chris and Don Conner of Folkston; Nine Grandchildren: Christian Conner, Chelsea and Madison Slocum, Nolan and Paden Hillegass Jonathan and Krystal Conner ;Silver and Ethyl Fuentes and several great-Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Gowen, Michael Thacker, Tommy Miller, Brant McCoy, John Dixon and Bob Popham.

The family will receive friends May, 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM until 11:30 in the Chapel of Shepard Funeral Home with Funeral Services beginning at 11:30 AM with Rev. Ray McMillan and Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Folkston, Georgia with Military Honors.  Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors,4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300. Jacksonville, Florida 32256.

 


Mr. Conner was a CS1 aboard SEBAGO during the Squadron 3 tour to VietNam.
