Gerald Henry Olson, 70, of Madison died Monday.
A native of Ishpeming, Mich., and former resident of Milwaukee, Wis., he had live in Madison since 1973.
He was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the Coast Guard and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, receiving two Bronze Stars, and a Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam War, and a Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross. After retirement he was a mechanic for Cantey Motor Co., Rober Bud Chevrolet and Griner Motor Co.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa fratenrity and a lifetime member of the Retired Officers Association. He was a Lutheran and attended Cherry Lake Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Olson of Cherry Lake; two sons, Kenneth William Olson and Henry Wade Olson of Cherry Lake; a daughter, Kethey Hannah of Centreville, VA; and three grandchildren.
