Peter Moller Has Crossed Over The Bar

SN Peter Moller served aboard from September '57 to September '58.  Word was received from his family today that he crossed over the bar in June. His obituary was published by the Friendswood News

Peter Christian Miller, 76, of Friendswood, TX Passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born November 26, 1938 to Peter and Johanna Schenk Moller in Houston, TX

He graduated from Lutheran High School in 1957 and after graduation he joined the United States Coast Guard. He attend the University of Houston and obtained a Bachelor of Science, then attended Rice University and obtained his Ph.D. in Cell Biology. He then furthered his education at brown University in Rhode Island and obtained his Post-Doctoral Fellowship. 

In 1973, he was Research Scientist at the Papanicolau Cancer Research Institute in Miami, Fl and a Research Instructor in the Dept of Medicine at the University of Miami. In 1975, he joined the faculty of UTMB in Galveston and was there until he retired in 2003. 

Peter enjoyed collecting rare children's books, woodworking in his shop, loved to read, and watch old movies, enjoyed classical music and loved to travel. He was a member of the Houston Liederkranz and Hope Lutheran Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts and uncles in Germany and Texas and his father-in-law, Herbert Naumann. 

Peter is survived by wife of 51 years, Carolyn, daughters, Kristina Moller Haynes and husband Philip and Stephanie Moller Simpson and husband Reagan, 7 grandchildren, Cater, Logan and Ashley Haynes and Cooper, Cannon, Smith, and Miller Simpson, mother-in-law, Ruby Naumann, numerous cousins in Houston and Germandy, and many other relatives and cherished friends.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Lutheran Church, 1804 S Friendwood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev Ralph W. Hobratschk officiationg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, TX 77087-1005 or Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund.
