CWO3 George Ray Gillett, USCG (Ret)

Mr. Gillett was known to SEBAGO's Vietnam crew as ETC Gillett, and his friends called him Ray. He kept up with shipmates, and frequently contributed comments, on the "" forum board. Electronics Tech, USCG Retiree, Dies

Mr. George "Ray" Gillett, 66 of Wallops Island, died there Thursday, November 16, 2006.

Born in Hudson, Fla., on May 27, 1940, he was the son of the late James Aaron Gillett and Edna Leola Strickland Gillett. Mr. Gillett retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years. He was an electronics technician and a member of Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague, Ready Sunday School Class, Accomack Lodge 243 AF&AM, Royal Arch Chapter 75, and American Legion Post 159.

 Mr. Gillett is survived by his wife, Brenda Gillett of Wallops Island; daughter Roxane Mostrom (and husband, Tim), of Secretary, Md; and son Joseph Gillett (and wife, Cindy} of Chincoteague; grandchildren Paul David Bloxam, Jr. (and wife, Rhonda), of Wattsville, and Suzanne Gillett of Chincoteague; step-grandchildren, Kirsten, Colby and Tammy Mostrom of Secretary; three great-grandchildren; and bother James Aaron Gillett (and wife, Frances), and Joseph Larry Cox (and wife, Iris). He was predeceased by two brothers, David Kennedy Suydam and Ronald Suydam. 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov 19, at Union Baptist Church, by Dr. D.B. Martin. Interment was in Daisey Cemetery on Ridge Road in Chicoteague.
